If you wish to file a small claims action in this court, please contact the court at (775) 752-3726 or by mail for claim and fee information.  If you have been served with a small claims action and you do not believe you owe the claim, you must contact this court prior to your appearance date to state you do not owe the claim.  A hearing date will be scheduled by the court clerk.

If you have been cited for a traffic violation(s), please be advised that the judge will not reduce, amend or dismiss any charge.  Attendance at traffic school IS NOT ALLOWED in lieu of a conviction on your driving record. 

If a Nevada licensed driver attends traffic school, he may receive credit by the Nevada DMV for a 3 demerit reduction; however, the conviction remains on all driver's licenses.

If you wish to schedule a trial by mail, you may send a written request to be received by the court prior to your appearance date.  The court will schedule a trial date.  The trial date form will be sent to you for your signature and return.  You will return the original to the court and retain a copy for your records.  You should note that the court requests bail be posted prior to the court date and you will also be required to telephone the court approximately one week prior to confirm your trial date.  Failure to comply with the court notice sent to you will result in your trial date being vacated and a possibly of issuance of a bench warrant for your arrest.

If you are charged with a more serious violation, or if you have been booked/arrested for a charge, you should telephone this court to see if your appearance is mandatory.

If you had a bail bond posted to guarantee your appearance, your appearance IS MANDATORY.  If you fail to appear as scheduled, a bench warrant will be issued for your arrest.

The Wells Justice Court is willing to work with individuals, with reason; however, if you do not appear, remit bail/payment as scheduled, a bench warrant will be issued.  Additional bail will be required upon issuance of a bench warrant.
